Junior AI Engineer — AI Agents

Job Description
About Aidapt
Aidapt helps mid-market companies across MEA turn AI on — not as a slogan, as a measurable operating capability. We're founder-led, profitable, and growing. Lighthouse clients are live and shipping.
The seat in one sentence
Junior AI Engineer based in Karachi. 0 to 1 year of experience. But honestly, the years don't matter. What matters is whether you've actually shipped something.
The one rule before you even think about applying
If you don't have a deployed project to show us, don't apply.
We're not being harsh. We've just learned that the fastest way to find builders is to ask for proof of building. A GitHub repo with 3 commits doesn't count. A live tool that does something real — even something small — does.
What you'll do
You join a Pod. You work inside real client environments across MEA. Every 2 weeks you're expected to have shipped something to production. Not a prototype. Not a demo. Production. The kind of thing a business is actually using the next morning.
You'll also learn to translate fuzzy business problems into clean technical solutions. Sit in client calls. Listen. Ask the right questions. Shape the right approach — not the most technically interesting one. We pair you with our AI Engineering Practice Lead and a Specialist who'll teach you the patterns that scale.
The stack you'll work with day to day
Node.js, React, PostgreSQL or Supabase, Python for automations, n8n or Make.com or Zapier, and AI agents.
The skills under those: prompt engineering, tool calling, API wiring.
You should also just know the AI space. What's worth using right now, what's noise, what models do what. Not from reading newsletters. From actually building with them.
What success looks like
First 90 days (this is a hard fluency gate, not a soft check-in)
- Pro-fluent on the parts of the stack your engagements demand
- Two AI agents / automations shipped to production code
- Active daily pair-programming with the Specialist
- Confident enough to sit in a client call and contribute to scoping
First 6 months
- Independently leading workstreams on smaller automations
- Patterns library contributions documented and reused
- On a clear path to L2 Specialist (typically 9-12 months from start)
Three questions we'll ask you in the first conversation
- What did you build?
- Is it live?
- Does it connect to something real — a database, an API, an actual business process?
If the answer to all three is yes, we want to talk.
What we won't offer
- A toy-project role — we ship production
- A 9-to-5 — we ship in sprints
- Senior comp for a junior seat
Aidapt is committed to building a team that reflects the markets we serve. We hire on evidence of outcomes, not on credentials, networks, or titles.
Requirements
Required
- Working knowledge of AI agents — prompt engineering, tool calling, API wiring
- Hands-on with at least one of n8n, Make.com, or Zapier
- Solid Python for automations
- Working fluency in Node.js and React
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL or Supabase
- API integration experience — REST, webhooks, auth flows
- A live deployed project — not a GitHub repo with 3 commits, an actual tool that does something real
- Excellent written English
- Self-learning instinct — the AI stack moves weekly, you keep up without being told
Strongly preferred
- 0 to 1 year of work experience (the years don't matter — the work does)
- Experience with ClickUp, Wati, or similar SaaS tools at admin level
- Comfort sitting in a client call and asking the right questions
- Genuine taste in the AI space — you can tell us what's worth using right now, what's noise, and why
- Karachi universities (BSCS, BS AI, BS SE) welcome
What rules you out
- No deployed project to show us
- "Senior" engineers using a junior seat as a stepping stone
- Pure researchers — we ship production code, not papers
